Join
Anyone who lives or works within the area served by Mendip District Council can join MCCU (note we have no association with the council).
You will need to join in person at one of our service points
If you work in the Mendip area (including voluntary work) but live outside the area, you can still join – just bring proof of employment: a staff badge, pay-slip or letter from your employer in addition to your ID and proof of address.
Please ensure to bring one of the documents from each of these two lists.
Proof of Identity
- EU passport
- EU driving licence
- Current UK benefit book (with signature)
- Employer’s ID card with photo + signature
- Bank card with signature + supporting statement
- Statement of benefit letter
- Marriage certificate
Proof of your National Insurance Number
Proof of Address (all proof must bear both name and address and be no more than 3 months old)
- Financial statement
- Council tax notification
- EU driving licence (if not used to prove ID)
- Utility bill (not mobile phone)
- Council or social housing rent book with name and address (paid up within last 3 months)
If you haven’t got the necessary documents, come into one of our service points and talk to a volunteer anyway, as we can usually make special arrangements for people who genuinely can’t provide proof of their identity or address.
You will also need to bring some money to open your account (£1 will do) and, if you want to continue saving by standing order, bring details of your bank account so that you can complete the form.
